Roberta Cimarosti

Roberta Cimarosti is an English Language and Translation Researcher at the University of Calabria (Italy). Her main research areas are World Englishes in postcolonial literary perspective, critical applied linguistics, and cognitive poetics. She holds an MA by research in Comparative Cultural Studies (University of Warwick, UK), a PhD in English (University of Venice Ca’ Foscari) and has been a recipient of research grants from the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari and a research fellowship from St John’s College Oxford.

Among her publications, a monograph on the poetics of Derek Walcott and articles about the relationship between identity, language and power in colonial and postcolonial literary discourse, linguistic variation, and the main models of the English language in the contemporary world, in particular on the impact of World Englishes and creolization on English language theory, learning processes and applied linguistics. She is currently working on a monograph whose provisionary title is Literacy Memoirs in Translingual Englishes: Histories, Creativity, Critical Pedagogy.
