The Society for the Study of Religion (SSR) consists of faculty members from across the University who are interested in the academic study of religion and whose teaching and research involve some aspect of the field known as Religious Studies. The Society was formed in 2012 and aims to create a vibrant, interdisciplinary space in the university community for discussing the role of religious ideals, practices, institutions, and rituals from various world religions or spiritual traditions in human life, culture, and society. In 2025-26, the Society will continue to hold a variety of monthly talks that are open to the University community. For further information, please contact Heather McCune Bruhn (hcm1@psu.edu) or Catherine Wanner (cew10@psu.edu), or see our website (https://sites.psu.edu/religion/).
